Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer

1)

There is mostly people from white ethnic backgrounds seen through out this trailer as well as one of the main protagonists being white middle aged, However there is also a black middle aged male who is portrayed as the centre of attraction in this trailer which could possible signify that he is the main protagonist. Moreover, there is also white older aged people in this trailer which shows the mixture of ages within this film. Moreover, the villain seen in this trailer is seen to be wearing a mask which is quite typical of a villain as they often wear masks to hide their identity.

Middle aged black male- This character/actor is represented alternative to the stereotype. This is because often, people refer to people of black ethnicity being violent and having a negative influence whereas the character in this trailer goes against that way of thinking. This is primarily because the character is portrayed as a good guy and is seen as the centre of attraction which does go against the stereotype. 

White middle ages female- This character also is also alternate to the representation. This is because although the character is white, she is a female and females are often portrayed as 'damsel in distress' and in this trailer she is clearly presented as the centre of attraction which often is taken by a male character, This is an example of countering the stereotypes of female roles. 

White middle ages male- This character is portrayed as dominant to the representation. This is because white old aged people as seen to be the person who guides people as well as being seen as more wiser which is what this character (towards the end) is portrayed as.
Villain- The villain is also an example of a dominant representation. This is because often the villain hides his/her face from the protagonist as well as wearing black clothing which does follow the stereotype of villains.

• Majority of the ethnicity of people seen within this trailer are white ethnicity and could be of American or British origin as the trailer is scripted in English language,
• Villain is seen with his face covered and wears black clothing which is typically what villains would wear.
• The black male is seen in this trailer being weaker than the white female characters he seeks her help on the battle.
• The female character is seen as the leader as she guides the black male character from the explosion which could be a stereotype.
